Rhodonite
Rhodonite is a pink to rose-red mineral that belongs to the group of manganese silicates. It is recognised for its distinctive color, often featuring black or brown veining, and its attractive appearance makes it a popular choice for jewelry and ornamental purposes.
Rhodonite was first discovered in Russia in the Ural Mountains in the 18th century. It was initially named "orletz" after the Russian word for the eagle because it was found in the Orletz region. In the 19th century, the mineral's name was changed to "rhodonite," derived from the Greek word "rhodon," which means "rose," because of its distinctive pink or rosy colour.Besides Russia, rhodonite deposits have been found in other parts of the world, including the United States (especially in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Colorado), Brazil, Canada, Australia, and Sweden.
